You go on a date. It feels okay. Not great, not terrible. You come home, re?play the conversation, and wonder: “Did I say something wrong? Should I have kissed them? Why didn’t they text?”
You never get answers. So you go on the next date, make the same mistakes, and wonder again.
Stop guessing. Start analyzing. The “Post?Date Autopsy” is a consultation technique that breaks down every date to identify what worked, what didn’t, and what to change next time.
SUBHEADING: What Is the Post?Date Autopsy?
It’s a structured review of your date, done within 24 hours. You ask yourself specific questions to uncover patterns and improve your dating game.
SUBHEADING: The Autopsy Questions
1. Did I show up as my authentic self?
If you were nervous, performing, or trying too hard, it showed. Authenticity is attractive. Performance is not.
2. Did I listen more than I talked?
The best conversationalists aren’t the most interesting – they’re the most interested.
3. Did I ask meaningful questions?
If you only talked about surface topics, you missed the chance to connect. Ask deeper questions next time.
4. Did I have fun?
If you didn’t enjoy the date, they probably didn’t either. Dating should be enjoyable, not a test.
5. Did I send the right signals?
If you were interested, did you show it? Flirting, eye contact, and light touch are signals of interest. If you were too guarded, they may have thought you weren’t interested.
6. Did I come across as confident?
Confidence is a choice. You can be nervous and still be confident. Acting “cool” is not confidence – being present is.
SUBHEADING: The “Pattern” Discovery
After 3–5 autopsies, patterns emerge:
- Maybe you’re going on dates with the wrong type of person.
- Maybe you’re coming on too strong or too cold.
- Maybe you’re failing to communicate your interest.
- Maybe you’re not screening dates well enough.
Once you see the pattern, you can fix it.
SUBHEADING: Real Client, Real Result
My client Emma kept having first dates that fizzled. She couldn’t figure out why – she was attractive, smart, and fun.
We did a Post?Date Autopsy after her next date. She realized she’d spent the whole date talking about her ex and her job stress. She wasn’t trying to be boring – she was nervous, and she defaulted to safe topics.
The next date, she used our “Deep Dive” question list. The conversation flowed. The date went for three hours. He texted the next day. They’re still together.
SUBHEADING: The Autopsy Myth – It’s Not About Over?Analyzing
You’re not dissecting to find “flaws” – you’re dissecting to find patterns. This is about understanding, not judgment.
Your next step: After your next date, do the autopsy. Write down your answers. Look for the pattern.
