You think the date went well – but she ghosts. Why? Often, it’s not the big mistakes; it’s the microscopic behaviours that signal low confidence or low interest. I surveyed 50 women aged 25–40 and asked: “What made you lose attraction on a first date?” Their answers revealed seven silent killers. Here they are, with surgical fixes.

Killer #1: Checking Your Phone – Even Once
Even a quick glance tells her she’s not a priority. Fix: Put your phone on silent and place it face?down on the table. If you need to check time, wear a watch.

Killer #2: Over?agreeing
Saying “me too” to everything makes you seem spineless. Fix: When she says she loves a band you hate, smile and say “I respect that – I’m more into jazz, but tell me what draws you to them?” – respectful disagreement shows character.

Killer #3: The Monologue
Talking non?stop about your job, your ex, or your gym routine. Fix: Use the 2?minute rule – after you speak for two minutes, ask a question.

Killer #4: Weak Handshake or No Physical Touch
A limp handshake or zero touch (not even a light arm touch) creates platonic vibes. Fix: A firm handshake upon meeting, and later, a brief touch on her elbow when crossing the street – natural and protective.

Killer #5: Asking Closed Questions
“Do you like your job?” – dead end. Fix: “What’s the most unexpected thing about your job?” – opens stories.

Killer #6: Complaining About Anything
Negative energy is contagious. Even complaining about traffic signals low resilience. Fix: Reframe – “Traffic was bad, but I used the time to listen to a great podcast – have you heard it?”

Killer #7: Forgetting Her Name
If you forget, admit it early with humour: “I’m so sorry – I’m terrible with names, can you remind me?” – better than pretending.

Real Example – From Ghosted to Second Date
Tom had all seven. After our coaching, he fixed his phone habit and started using open questions. His next date lasted 3 hours and she texted him that night. Small tweaks, huge returns.

Conclusion
Attraction is built in the gaps – between words, between glances. Eliminate these silent killers and you’ll see your second?date rate double.
